“Pot Luck”

We are all moving pieces on a large green vista,

There are dangers, in the far reaches of this plane,

Great holes to pluck you from view, a fate we are all due,

A factor of reality, that cant be dispelled in haste.

We’re all in a game, in a multitude of colours,

Sharing many similarities, more than our differences,

When we interact, we help each other along our path,

Many options are on the table, we can collide or kiss.

But to get ahead, we have an established code to follow,

However, much is possible, with the right approach,

When our luck is spilled, we can feel racked with guilt,

If we act foul, our progress is stunted the most.

Still, the game rolls on regardless, fair play is rewarded,

Sometimes we miss opportunities, at times we get the lot,

So, before we’re punked, snookered, or inevitably sunk,

Let’s chalk it up to experience, and cue the next shot.

Yes, you’ve guessed it, here is another of my exclusive (published, but never before shared online) poems, this time, from my second  book, “Confront The Shadows”.

Today’s piece focuses on the parallels between our lives, and the game of Snooker. I must admit, I enjoy playing Pool more than I do this game, but Snooker does require a greater level of planning, patience and wit to achieve the desired outcome of satisfactorily completing the task.

We must all come to terms with the fact that every single one of us, will one day say goodbye to this green vista, and find ourselves on another plane of existence. Many of us realise, that it’s not about getting from A to B quickly, or even preventing that eventuality, but rather, taking our time to get there, making meaningful connections, and preparing ourselves for our journey onwards.

As we venture on, we are likely leaving others behind. It benefits the entire game, when we consciously choose to have a positive impact on those around us. Yes, the game can have tense moments, but overall, the experience is meant to be a smooth and enjoyable one.

We should remember these points, as we navigate this seemingly crowded and distracting landscape, as focus, calmness, and helping others who are facing their transition, all make the experience much more rewarding and memorable.

“Numb The Pain” (poem / poetry)

Clingfilm my senses, please wrap them up,

Don’t let them out, don’t let them be touched,

I can’t chance feeling, just one more emowsh,

Could tip me into phases of being exposed.

Save me from the fierce pull of this tug of war,

It leaves me with rope burns, overwhelmingly sore,

Come to think of it, my resistance makes the pain,

I need to let go, and become whole again.

As promised, here is yet another of my exclusive (published, but never before shared online) poems, from my most recent book, “Poems That Move You”.

This piece focuses on the moments where we feel most sensitive and overwhelmed, the reflex reaction to which, is usually our inclination to wrestle with our emotions, but that often only adds fuel to the fire, leading to us hurting and scarring ourselves further.

Instead it may help to loosen our grip and allow the emotions to flow more naturally. It’s okay to grieve, it’s okay to be down… life cant always be sunshine and rainbows, there are gonna be dark spells, what matters most is how we weather the storms, enduring the downpour and learning alot about ourself and others in the process.

That’s the key lesson that pain teaches us really though, isn’t it… and sometimes our suffering is drawn out, simply because we fail to grasp this simple truth.

So invest your energy in enhancing your understanding, rather than in fighting the process.

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

“Rusty Cogs” (poem / poetry)

Why does it have to be so gruelling,
To get my body to work today?
“Running on empty! In need of refuelling!”
Is the message that graces my vessel’s display.

Nothing short of an uphill struggle,
Is what I’m experiencing at present,
Cringing as if I’ve just got into trouble,
And someone’s determined to teach me a lesson.

I want to yell, “What have I done?!”
But fear this could lead to a harsher result,
I can’t move a muscle, like I’ve been stunned,
Unable to fight it, but is this my fault?

Torn to pieces and stitched back together,
The plan was not followed on reassembly,
Not the first time though, I should’ve known better,
It’s hard to maintain patience aplenty.

Something’s once again under my skin,
Past my defences, well, nobody’s perfect,
It commences its painful assault from within,
Aiming to see, who can push who the furthest.

Inside me it’s bubbling, corroding my innards,
Like a bad tenant, it’s hard to evict,
It heads inside further, mimicking splinters,
In this case, ignorance is clearly not bliss.

I have to confront my issues head-on,
They won’t disappear, they’ll only get worse,
If I let them be, so I need to get on,
By venting frustrations, you make them disperse.

Adjusting your outlook, you take control back,
Lubricating your system, so things aren’t so bleak,
I tell you right now, I’d much rather have,
Tight cogs than popped clogs, any day of the week.

Hey friends, as I mentioned in my last post, I’m on a break from writing new material at the moment, but to show that I haven’t forgotten you all, I’m sharing one of my exclusive (published, but never before shared online) poems, around once a fortnight, until I’m in a position to share my new material again.

Today, I’ve chosen to share a piece about those moments when you feel completely drained, physically and emotionally, and you’re trying to find the strength to turn things around. It’s something that may feel impossible at first, but is achievable when we put our minds to it.

I’d like to add that it’s perfectly normal to feel this way, we all go through it at some point in our lives, but you deserve better than to allow yourself to remain in this state, so whether you reach out to friends and loved ones for support, or transform the way you view whatever’s getting you down, you can find the fuel to move forwards.

I believe in you… so please believe in yourself too, and as always, if you’d like to chat with me about anything, you are more than welcome to drop me a DM, any time.

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

“Black-I-Hole” (poem / poetry)

The tock-tick, tock-ticking of an anti-clockwise mind,
WHO gave it a wind, and set it in motion,
Is it a mistake, or a creation of destruction?
Engineered to break down the very essence of existence,
Will it therefore destroy its creator, or become it?
Who should interpret such a concept?
And how long do they have to do so,
Before the rewritable disc is erased,
And left without a trace?!

Make haste! And do the unthinkable,
The uninkable, shall be penned from a fountain of blue,
Then removed by a clear solution that’s applicable,
“HELP, HELP, I’m Melting!” they scream,
As they’re made to feel unwanted and despised,
Then like good lies, kept invisible,
Deception, or merely the correction of an inaccuracy or fault?
But who’s fault?! Whose is, was or will it be?
Someone has to take the fall, the blame, claim ownership,
Of this supposed lost property.

If an eye’s only view is a blind-spot, then the wind changes,
Is it blind? …and if so, does it remain thus,
Or can its sight be restored?
To enable recognition of a disturbing reality,
Everybody drowning in a negative current,
Where safety precautions have little or no effect,
There are no emergency services or lifeguards to save the day.

It must be a full moon! How else can this be occurring?!
Everyone’s blood boiling, with no pilot or ignition,
Feral instincts rising like corpses on riverbeds,
Implicitly prevalent, ever-present,
Just waiting to resurface and cause chaos!
Biding time, building momentum steadily,
Approaching undetected to the naked eye,
With a stealth-like motion, until… BOOM!!!
It’s here now, here and all around, as far as the eye cannot see!
Does it span the entire Universe?
…or merely …within me?

Hello World, I’m part way through a spontaneous break from writing and sharing my new material, while I focus practically all of my attention on securing and sculpting the foundations of the newest chapter in my life story. It’s all very hush right now, but it will become clear what this chapter encompasses, in the coming months.

I have therefore chosen to share a poem of mine that is close to my heart, (one that I’ve already published, but have not shared online before), and I’ll likely continue to do so about once a fortnight, until such time as I can direct some of my creative energy back to writing new pieces.

I published this piece in the Spring of last year, but believe it or not, I actually wrote it while deep in thought, on the way to work, back in 2009! It’s scary how accurately it portrays the unfolding reality that we are currently enduring; the unspoken truths; the cryptic propaganda; and the explosive nature with which our lives have been altered.

The true “BOOM!!!” …is yet to come (unless, we stop its emergence), it represents an act of submission that cannot be taken back or undone. Unfortunately my friends, the madness has barely begun, much darker things are planned for us all… I just hope they remain nothing more than a plan, and do not become our reality.

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

The Big Chill

Hello my fellow sledders! After the recent snowstorm that most of us around the World have been subjected to, I had the urge to share another published poem for free with you all, from my debut book of poetry “Proceed With Awesome” (Available here), although this time the poem has a much more frosty feel!

I wrote this poem at a time when I was feeling pretty low, I had been putting a brave face on and soldiering through it as well as I could, but when I finally began to open up about the thoughts and emotions I was wrestling with, I was met with a wall of silence for the most part.

Penning this poem whilst stuck in that dark place was my way of describing my mind state, preparing to move forward with my life, and laying the foundation for its linked poem – “Grateful” (also found in my debut book), which drew a line under my angst, gave me the strength to begin venting my pent up bitterness properly, then reminded me (and eventually showed others) that dark experiences and realities can be used as fuel to rebuild again!

The World Is So Cold…

Nose hairs breaking like icicles,

Take a deep breath and feel the sting,

Frozen solid, no sniffs or trickles,

That’s how cold the World really is.

Worse than the strongest blizzards,

Just think of the total opposite to,

The preferred temperature of an African Lizard,

Timesed by infinity, and you still have no clue.

There is no scientific explanation or theory,

Although there’s a reason, which remains hidden,

I try to speak out, but no-one hears me,

The words won’t travel, because it’s so bitter.

Limbs filled with death, no likely repair,

No new blood arrives, no spent blood can leave,

Resulting in a loss of feeling, as if nothing’s there,

Like the black foot of Longfellow Deeds.

Should it be forgotten? Is it still ‘there’?

I mourn its condition and try to revive it,

Will nobody help me?! Does anyone care?

Greedy Zombies have no real way of realising.

The weather’s preset, forecast, misleading,

This used to be my real smile, and is still what it looks like,

But it’s simply frozen to resemble it, that’s the reason,

Why the World is so cold… yet still… I smile!

To Infinity and Beyond

Hello fellow explorers! Once again, I’d like to bless you with another free poem, to give you a further taster of my debut poetry book, “Proceed With Awesome” (Available here).

This poem is dedicated to those of us who love to travel, meet new people, learn something new about the World or themselves, embrace unfamiliar experiences, plus to those who appear to seek ALL available knowledge and experiences. …good hunting!

Infinity

Travelling is something we all seem to do,

Either physically or exploring the depths of the mind,

Whether it’s miles or thoughts that you cover,

You can’t do it all in a single lifetime.

Just think how many square metres this World has,

Too many for any one mind to perceive,

It’s impossible for someone to visit each metre,

And know that they’ve been everywhere when they leave.

All of the knowledge and information around us,

Could never be absorbed or viewed by one brain,

Those amazing facts of existence and culture,

For one person to know, would send them insane.

Complex data and ancient mysteries,

That place or fact the map or media missed,

Secrets, experiences and Government cover-ups,

Put together would form an infinite list.

There are people you shall never walk past,

There are things you shall never think of or see,

Things that don’t interest you, so you miss out,

Wisdom you want that is never released.

This planet amazes me with what it contains,

I know I can never know its full contents,

Questions I have that shall never be answered,

Things that I’ve read, but don’t get what they meant.

If you know everything then there are no surprises,

Being a know all, you’d have nothing to seek,

I’m glad that this is not at all possible,

As you’d be detained and labelled a freak.

We’re a small, compact ball of information,

There is so much more away from our planet,

Stars, Galaxies and the unknown Universe,

We want this knowledge, but could we handle it?

Another Poem For You To Enjoy

3D Hearts on Black BG

Aloha!!! …I’d like to treat you all to another one of my published poems from my debut poetry book “Proceed With Awesome” (Available here), this one is in support of those deserving people who are still looking for (or building foundations with) their partner in crime / soulmate.

Just remember, love is likely to come knocking when you least expect it, embracing those whose hearts are already in the right place. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not, your chances of finding love will always be much greater if you stay positive, love yourself first and let things progress naturally! …enjoy!

True Love

I want to tell you all about love,

And share its secrets and power with you,

The colour, the warmth and mostly the beauty,

Of a force that is strong when it’s true.

I perceive it to be like a flower,

With pollen to share when it blossoms and blooms,

The pollen from one may inspire another,

Or sometimes it gets people high from its fumes.

Avoid fake flowers called infatuation,

These imitations should always be feared,

Although some people scarred from a past love,

Prefer things genetically engineered.

Me, I’m out there, after the real thing,

Planting seeds, only to see stunted growth,

My heart still awaits the growth of a flower,

As I promised it one, and I swore under oath.

There is a seed, and it has my name on,

Fairly nearby if I look hard enough,

That will grow into a large and prosperous flower,

If I plant it before life tries calling my bluff.

The seed bears a magnet, drawing me closer,

Whispering softly, though I don’t know where from,

I just wish to find this pure divine power,

Before I blink and my time has all gone.

When this flower grows and matures,

My heart will be at peace for all time,

And the flower shall be wilted by nothing,

As I will have united with the power divine.

To every love searcher following whispers,

Don’t wallow in pain, you must go beyond,

For if you stay focused and try to be patient,

I’m sure that you’ll find your true loving bond.

In Honour of the Recent Super Blue Blood Moon

In order to highlight the immense beauty of the ‘Super Blue Blood Moon’ that graced our skies recently, I wanted to share one of my poems with you, which was published in my debut poetry book, “Proceed With Awesome” (Available here).

Secrets Of The Crescent Moon

The moon has many faces,

Each one is like someone,

Things we see, and things we don’t,

Of those times now long gone.

Some people keep lots locked away,

Some people will share most,

But no matter how open they might be,

There’s one door that stays closed.

Everyone has a dark side,

Even if not shown,

And if they do share most times,

It’s when trust has grown.

Inside myself, I hide things too,

Of times I wish I could forget,

Things I couldn’t tell a soul,

Though one day this I may regret.

As I went to bed last night,

Upon my pillow was moonlight,

The light, distinctive and so bright,

I looked and saw a truthful sight.

The moon it smiled and called my name,

I saw myself, and it was right,

I guess there’s only me to blame,

That half was black, and half was white.
