“Root Cause” (poem / poetry)

Friction can be summed up by the care of one’s teeth,

What happens on the surface, can affect what’s beneath,

Teeth need attention, during nighttime and day,

When not cared for well, you’ll see signs of decay.

And with it, the pain; bleeding gums; cavities;

Losing your teeth’s one likely tragedy;

Bad breath; sensitivity; are some other outcomes,

Take care of your pearly whites, or end up without ’em.

Friction is no joke, whether it’s a friendship; relative; team mate; someone you’re in a relationship with; or something else; if you let it fester or actively cause the decay, you can’t turn around and say that you gave a damn about seeing them smile, or wanted the bond to truly blossom.

The main thing that’s needed to keep a bond strong is reciprocity, but when someone has your back and you don’t have theirs, it can come across as plain rude. Also, if you can’t handle the truth when it’s presented to you with no malice, then you can’t claim to value honesty.

Truth be told, some people like their fake grillz, in order to mask the fact that they lack the ability to fully care for something other than themselves, and when they do seem to care, it comes with conditions like pay day loans (hundreds or thousands of percent worth of interest).

So, to those people who seem to revel in decay, despite the sincere efforts of others, all we can say is… enjoy your false teeth, and don’t forget to stock up on denture adhesive cream, or brace yourself for screw-in teeth, because the real ones are outta here, peace!

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for over two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have three books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Poems That Move You". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared there, after which, why not pick up a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
