“Ascending Descendants” (poem / poetry)

One of my core functions is the righting of wrongs,
To leave this place better, by the time that I’m gone,
As I look at our future, the children, so innocent,
They’ve much to learn, for them, we must all be vigilant.

If we make mistakes, they pay the full price,
It could cost them their health; prosperity; life;
I promise to work hard, to give you the best,
Young loved ones and strangers, I hope you stay blessed.

I wrote this piece to emphasise the importance of the legacy each of us leave, not the valuable or sentimental items left to others in our will, but the accumulative impact we have had on this planet and its inhabitants, upon our passing.

I believe that we are all here on this ball of rock, within this dimension, to feel; learn and grow; but also to bless and elevate the lives and souls of others. Our choices and actions invoke a certain set of results, results which ultimately, we all pay the karmic debt for, especially those who will be around when we have ventured on.

It is a great responsibility placed upon each of us, one that we should not take lightly, and within this responsibility, lies the need for us to see even complete strangers as our descendants. I mean, do you know who your Great Granddaughter or Great Grandson will marry? No. Therefore, everyone’s included in your potential family.

We are one race, the Human Race. We are one family, and as such, we should all look out for one another. We must begin to look further than the end of our noses, to perceive our true impact; our true potential; our true legacy. In the spirit of this sentiment, I wish the very best for each and every one of you, may you ascend beyond our checkered past, and may your future be bright!

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for over two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have three books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Poems That Move You". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared there, after which, why not pick up a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
