“Pathogen Paradox” (poem / poetry)

Inaction is sometimes a powerful thing,

Like rest encouraging speedier healing,

In Pandemic Central, how you help your kin,

Is distance, not going to see her or him.

Less panic buying, means less people struggle,

Caving to fear puts us all in big trouble,

Being mindful of others, pulls us all out the rubble,

Expediting the moment we’re cleared for a cuddle.

At the time of me writing this, the UK has almost 4 times as many people who have died from Covid-19, than have recovered from it, so our ingrained British defiance is clearly not working out for us, when it comes to combating its deadly effects.

Some of us Brits really have stuck two fingers up to the establishment, but in the process, have made our national pandemic situation worsen tenfold!

Did you know, that thanks to panic buying, a single person living alone, is allowed to buy the same amount of items as my family of 6 is limited to, typically 2 or 3 of any product type (when they’re available that is). Thus, large families like mine are forced to go out for food every few days, or we have to eat grass and leaves!

So I do feel like some things could definitely be structured better; I also think supermarkets have to source more locally grown produce, going forward; and we need to grow our own fruit and veg at home where we can, as soon as we can too.

Anyway, virtual hugs and good vibes to you all!

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for over two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have three books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Poems That Move You". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared there, after which, why not pick up a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
