Do you ever wonder what’s the cure to lonely,
The antidote to you feeling empty inside,
First off, stop thinking about yourself only,
Do away with your sense of entitlement, pride.
Then get out the house, volunteer at a shelter;
Visit a care home; get to know other people;
Your reward for being a benevolent helper,
You’ll make loads of friends, and your heart will be gleeful.

They say that “home is where the heart is”, well for that to be true, for us to feel truly at home… in our skin, in our surroundings, our circumstances, and in this Universe, we should be mindful of what our heart contains, and also what it projects.
If we dwell on feelings of loneliness and pain, we begin to blame others for this, we often become bitter and this cycle is rarely evaded. However, when we show kindness to others, kindness is shown to us also, along with gratitude; when we show love to those struggling with the weight of merely existing, a weight is lifted from us, in turn.
I am not talking about buying the affections of others, but being the change we wish to see in the World. The more love we create within our environment, the more our lives overflow with love and genuine care. It’s okay to feel lonely, but it does no good continuing to wallow in it.
By being there for a neighbour, popping in on them, keeping them company from time to time, inviting them to your place sometimes, you become each other’s blessing. Or you could start a hobby group… basically, the possibilities are endless for a warm and optimistic, homely heart.
