“Soak It In” (poem / poetry)

The hot tap’s turned on, the boiler ignites,

The gas feeds the flames, that heat water just right,

Aqua flows through the pipes, runs into the tub,

Mixes with salts, and makes bubbles and stuff.

The room becomes steamy, the mirror’s now blurred,

The aromas overpower my senses in turn,

I slide myself into the warmest of hugs,

Then melt in euphoria… ‘til I remove… the plug…

Believe it or not, I’m actually a fan of the shower, but I have to admit, when you want to unwind and relax, you can’t beat a good bath!

Sometimes I’ll play calming music while I revel in the bliss of it all; or I may watch an episode of Star Trek, or The Tick.

After draining the bath, it’s time to remove the remnants of what my body wishes to let go of, by washing and rinsing myself in the shower, and when I eventually step out of the bathroom, I feel massively refreshed, reborn, renewed.

This is one of a number of wonderful things that I indulge in occasionally, to channel my inner peace, calm, zen. What do you like to do to re-engage yours?

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for around two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have three books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Poems That Move You". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared there, after which, why not pick up a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
