Looking for something, with these two peepers,
I glance, I stare, and then… jeepers creepers!
Twisted, distorted, scary sights form,
I look on in horror, while hearing applause.
I literally can’t believe what I’m seeing,
Is my view warped, or that of these other beings?
Maybe eyes are secondary lenses or worse,
Fed augmented projections, trained on the perverse.

Some things that are offensive to our eyes, others see and are amused or pleased by; or there may be things that only we seem to perceive, be it hallucinations, the mind tricking itself, or us tuning into something that is rooted in another plane of existence; either way, things don’t always add up.
The question is though, how do we reconcile such inconsistencies? I guess it depends on what we are witnessing to some extent, and how we as individuals are wired to process them.
However, the curve ball at the end of today’s piece is even deeper than this… what if our experiences (or instances of what we see) are being manipulated, modified, externally generated, and layered with fallacies?
Think of movies such as “The Truman Show”, “Total Recall” and other ones that flirt with these ideas. I could build on this line of thinking much, much more, but it’s so mega, that I’ll save some for another piece down the line.
My mind doth race, my pupils dilate! How does all of this relate to your own experiences and perceptions?
