Up to now, things have been fairly one sided,
I’ve been quite the host, responding politely,
My demons have tried their best to run amuck,
Confrontations that can leave your confidence shook.
I’m not after perfection, just the best I can manage,
I’m determined, optimistic, and up for the challenge,
The first step is to do away with pretence,
No more shying away, let the battle commence.

This piece is a supportive shout out to people, who are about to venture somewhere that I’ve already been, and that when necessary, I sometimes revisit, plus it is also aimed at those who are not quite ready to begin a battle such as this yet, but will be some day soon.
Confronting our demons and vices is a huge undertaking, one that is extremely worthwhile, and is most rewarding when we are motivated enough, to enter into it wholeheartedly.
It takes, what in Economics they call a “Cost Benefit Analysis”, where you look at an aspect of your life (in this instance), and weigh the costs of continuing a habit, mindset or vice, versus the benefits it brings.
When we realise that the thing we are considering, harms us and our future happiness much more than its perceived potential benefits, it’s time to leave it by the wayside and do better for ourselves, by finding an alternative that serves us more, without the negative connotations.
This can apply to abusive or one-sided relationships; jobs that resemble slave labour; addiction to something; dietary or lifestyle choices; habits; and many other things… let the transformation begin.
Love and Respect always,
