“Proactive Deactivation” (poem / poetry)

This World harbours many a wondrous soul,

Dealing with struggles, and hurdles untold,

Outside they may seem, quite strong and upbeat,

While a deep pain is hidden, right under their sleeves.

They’re trapped on the frontline, battling it all,

Alone with their demons… a gruelling pitfall,

The pressure’s immense, they can’t do it alone,

So please be there for them, BEFORE they explode.

Not every personal struggle is clearly visible, many are fought in the mind, or behind closed doors. Sometimes however, you get a sense that things are not as rosey as they initially appeared to be. In those instances, you have an opportunity to be what what is needed most, a friend.

Some of the most wonderful souls inhabiting this planet, simply avoid opening up and talking about their problems, because they don’t want to be a burden to anyone else, or make a fuss. While this is an admirable sentiment, it does them no good at all, and robs us all of their potential light.

It is therefore our duty to help them realise that both their happiness and their story are important to us, and they should know that they have people around who care.

A simple thoughtful message, or hanging out for as little as thirty minutes every now and then, could be the difference between them finding the strength to keep battling, or them throwing the towel in on life.

Yes, they may be good at hiding the signs that they’re having a hard time of things, but taking an interest in people, opens doors that a locksmith couldn’t penetrate. If your heart is pure, you’ll find a way to make a positive difference in their lives, and that alone makes it worthwhile doing.

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for around two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have three books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Poems That Move You". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared there, after which, why not pick up a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
