Steps we take, to complete our goals,
Points we have passed, after gaining control,
Ports we dock in, with our ship-shape vessel,
The way that we glow, after gaining our petals.
Milestones are a great way to measure progress,
But can be too conventional, bringing you stress,
Here’s the greatest milestone, to fill you with cheer,
It’s a brand new day, and you… are still here!
We all set targets for ourselves, some of which allow us to focus on what’s important to us, although often, it’s simply because it’s expected at our age, or it’s an attempt to stay in the rat race and keep up with the Joneses!
We can be our biggest fan, yet we are regularly encouraged to be our own worst critic, through receiving years of negative conditioning, the result being, we are never satisfied, nothing we do is ever good enough, the completion of one milestone, can often usher several more to replace it!
I hate to see us put so much pressure on ourselves! Meditate on your life for a while… what makes you smile, without draining your lifeforce? Where do you feel an abundance of unconditional love? What would bless your soul the most, if you achieved it? The answers to these questions are great places to focus your energy.
Most other milestones, while looking great on your Social-Hierarchy CV, are irrelevant, ego-stimulators, that do us little to no good! Think of the bountiful gift of life you have, some will not have that gift tomorrow, so those of us that do, should count our blessings, shun the trivial, and celebrate the gift of another day breathing!
