What’s best for me? Is my best before me?

Pain – best before: March 2016,

Long overdue, overdue some release,

More sorrow ensues, ‘til I find some relief!

I’ve got to let go of the pain and the grief;

The baggage; distractions… all stuck on repeat,

It’s time to refocus, focus on me,

Self love and respect are top priority.

After realising that we are unique and glimpsing the strength that lies in this fact, we no longer need to try to be someone or something we are not, and begin to see that there are negative shackles clinging to us, stopping us from fulfilling our true potential, spiritual radiance and happiness.

This pain and other burdens hold us back, attempting to suffocate our heart and leave us cold and numb, stranded in the past, drowning in our regrets, missed opportunities and others sorrows. If we do not stop reinforcing these restraints, we may never experience a life filled with meaning, happiness and contentment.

The way this pain can be reduced and finally repurposed into fuel for our own positive ends, is by looking inside ourselves with honesty and good intentions; locating our true essence and nurturing it; caring for our own wellbeing; loving ourselves; and investing in our strengths, while acknowledging our weaknesses.

When we switch the focus to mending what ails us, instead of feeding it or wallowing in it, we grow stronger; realise our true worth; become more confident; more compassionate; and better equipped to help heal the suffering of others too. That, my friend, is a precious treasure trove, that can enrich your life and many others.

Love and Respect always,

Following Whispers.

Author: Following Whispers

Hello, I'm Following Whispers, an English poet and author who has been writing for around two decades. I'm a self-professed geek who can get deep sometimes, but I personally don't take myself too seriously, I just love to have fun, plus inspire myself and others. In my early twenties, I realised that beauty can be born out of not only love, but also pain and other motivations. The more I used writing poetry to make sense of my busy mind, the more it helped me to find a silver lining in even the darkest emotions, experiences, observations and topics; find positivity even in the face of extreme negativity; find strength when I was being forced to feel weak; and find hope that my tomorrows would be brighter. I began publishing my writing in 2018 and currently have two books available Worldwide, including my most recent release "Confront The Shadows". I have bared my soul in each and every one of my poems, and I'm confident that you'll get just as much from reading them and relating them, as I did from writing them. Please feel free to look around my site and read the free poems I've shared here, after which, why not grab a book of mine, drop by Instagram, connect with me and say hello!
